We went to the shop to buy some food for the week ahead. Dad got bread and milk and eggs from the cold back aisle. I picked an apple and a ripe banana from the fruit stand. Mom got rice and beans and a jar of jam for our toast. We stood in line and paid at the desk with cash and card. The man put it all in bags and we took them to the car. We put the food in the fridge and on the shelf in the pantry. Then we made a meal and ate as a team at the long table. We felt glad to have a full fridge and plans for good meals. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back. Birds sang in the trees and the world felt calm and bright.
