Mom made a cake for my big day with pink icing and sprinkles. It was soft and sweet and smelled good in the warm kitchen. We lit ten wax sticks and sang a song with all our guests. I made a wish and blew them all out in one long breath. We cut the cake and had a big slice with cold fresh milk. My pals got cake too and we all ate fast and laughed a lot. It was the best day of the year and I felt glad and proud. Dad took photos and mom hugged me when the party was done. We cleaned the table and put the gifts in a neat pile. At night I read the cards and smiled at each kind note. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back.
