The wind was strong so we flew a kite on the hill at noon. Dad held the string and I ran fast till the kite rose up. The kite rose up high in the blue sky like a bright bird. It dipped and soared like a big bright bird in the wide air. We let out more string and it went higher over the far trees. A gust came and the kite spun round but dad held the line firm. We pulled it back in and ran to the hill to try once more. We flew it again till the sun went down and the wind grew still. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back. Birds sang in the trees and the world felt calm and bright.
