We got in the car and drove down the road at dawn today. The road was long and went past farms and hills and small towns. Cows ate grass in the fields on both sides of the wide lane. We sang songs and ate snacks in the back seat for hours. Dad drove slow and mom read a map and marked each turn. We stopped for gas and a quick bite to eat at a roadside stand. Then we drove on till we saw the sea and smelled the salt air. It was a long trip but we had fun and saw many new sights. We took photos at the beach and ran in the sand till sunset. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back.
