We took a boat out on the lake on a calm clear morning. The oars cut the still blue water with a soft steady splash. Fish swam deep and we could not see them in the dark depths. We rowed slow and felt the sun on our skin and faces. A cool wind blew and we put on coats when clouds came near. We ate lunch on the bank and lay in the grass for a nap. Then we rowed back and tied the boat up at the old wood dock. It was a calm and nice day on the lake with mom and dad. We drove home tired and glad and talked about the trip all night. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back. Birds sang in the trees and the world felt calm and bright.
