I rang the bell at the front door and waited on the step. A man came out and gave a wave with a box in his hands. He had a box with a gift for me from my aunt far away. I said thanks and took it in the house to show my mom. Mom helped me open it on the table with care and slow hands. Inside was a toy car and a card with kind words and a hug. I read the card and gave mom a hug and felt glad and warm. Then I ran out to show my pals the car on the front walk. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back. Birds sang in the trees and the world felt calm and bright. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near.
