We play a game with a red ball in the yard after school. One of us kicks and the rest try to catch it with fast hands. We run fast and laugh when the ball rolls far past the fence. Sam kicks it high and it goes over the fence into the lane. We climb up and get it back down with help from a tall kid. Then we play tag and run in big loops round the old oak tree. We are hot and tired but we do not stop till mom calls us. At last we sit in the shade and rest and drink cold water. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back. Birds sang in the trees and the world felt calm and bright. The cat sat on the mat by the front door. The dog ran in the sun and barked at birds in the yard. We can go to the park and play all day with our pals. It is fun to run and jump with friends on the soft grass. The sun is hot and the sky is blue with slow white clouds. I like to eat and nap after a long fun day out in the sun. Mom and dad are home now and we sit and read a book on the couch. The cat and dog nap on the rug near the warm fire. It is a good day and we feel calm and glad. Later we feed the pets and give them fresh water in their bowls. The cat purrs and the dog wags his tail when we come near. At night we turn off the lamp and the house gets quiet and still. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer.
