We went to a farm on a trip last week with our whole class. Cows stood in the field and ate green grass in the warm sun. Chickens ran in the yard and pecked at seed on the dry ground. A horse neighed loud from the red barn at the top of the hill. We fed hay to a goat and pet a soft lamb with curly wool. The man let us hold warm eggs from the nest in the coop. We bought fresh milk and jam at the stand near the farm gate. It was fun to see how farm life works from dawn to dusk. We felt glad to be out in the fresh air with friends near. The day went fast and left us tired but full of good cheer. Mom smiled and said we did well and should rest a bit now. We made plans to do it all again when the sun comes back. Birds sang in the trees and the world felt calm and bright. I like to read a book before I go to bed each night. The tale is fun and full of brave kids on long wild trips. They go on trips and find lost maps in caves and old towns. I read one page and then one more till my eyes feel tired. The words are clear and the plot moves fast from start to end. When my eyes get tired I mark my spot with a thin red ribbon. I put the book on the shelf and turn off the lamp with care. I dream of the tale till the sun comes up and birds sing loud.
